Patchwork, The On-Line Journal

Welcome to the second issue of PATCHWORK, the online journal of writers and artists who have worked with Patricia Lee Lewis at Patchwork Farm or elsewhere in the world. PATCHWORK is named for the beautiful and moving pieces of writing we create in workshops from the vivid scraps and strange, colorful threads of our lives.

Each issue of PATCHWORK revolves around a particular theme. Since Patricia often uses images from the natural world in her workshops, we chose stones, the bones of the earth, as our theme for this first issue. As you will see, many of the pieces refer to stones directly, while others convey some quality evoked by them.

I'm grateful to everyone who helped get this first issue off the ground. In particular, I want to thank Brit Albritton for generously donating his time and invaluable design expertise, and Max Rivers and Terry Moriarty for their creative and planning assistance. I'm also indebted to the contributing writers for their courage and willingness to share their work in a public forum. Finally, I'd especially like to thank Patricia Lee Lewis for her unique ability to provide a wide and nurturing expanse for writers to dig deep. I hope you enjoy the poetry and prose of PATCHWORK.
